One of the things we’re really looking forward to when Leeds Print Workshop is up and running is screen printing: and we’re now one step closer to that thanks to a donation from Leeds University.
The University has donated a Kippax screenprint vacuum table to go in our workshop, which means that members will be able to make perfectly registered, multiple colour prints with ease.
Workshop founding members Mick, Kirstie and Jim spent an enjoyable afternoon (was it enjoyable, guys?) taking apart the vacuum table so that it can be moved and reassembled in the workshop.
Leeds University has also donated a screenprint wash-out booth to the workshop, which means we’ll have a place to clean ink off screens, and work on the photo emulsion process for really professional silkscreen prints.
This is all part of the great momentum that’s building up around equipment for the workshop. We hope to benefit from even more donated materials and equipment, and we’ll let you know when we do. And please give us a shout if you have any leads, or items to donate yourself! We’re all about building the best facilities possible for our members.
